Brass is the It Metal for Spring 2015
Brass has its moment this spring! An affordable and more sustainable alternative to gold, it's often used as a base for gold-plated jewelry. Yet it's unfortunate to see so many jewelers cover the metal with plating that ultimately wears off. Beyond economic and environmental advantages, there are aesthetic reasons to appreciate brass in the raw. An alloy of copper, it's got a gorgeous, rich yellow tone that, if allowed, can take on a deeper yellow patina with time. Red brass (aka Nu Gold), has a slightly higher copper content than yellow brass, offering a warmer hue, for those who prefer it.
