FAQs

Do you provide gift packaging?

All items come with a pouch and gift box or gift bag. Depending on the finish of your item, a polishing cloth may also be included. If you wish to include a gift note and omit price information, please indicate that the item is a gift in the checkout process.

How do I know what size cuff or ring to order?

Ring and cuff sizing can be confusing. See Sizing Help for tips on rings and bracelets.

Do you offer customizations and personalized pieces?

Many pieces in the shop can be customized in simple ways (e.g., use of a different alloy, or varied sizing).  Select items (cuff bracelets) can be personalized as noted in listings. At this time, The Solid State is not offering custom designs.

How do I care for my jewelry?

Always keep jewelry in the protective pouch provided when not in wear, and, if recommended for your piece, use the included polishing cloth for cleaning.

  • For pieces with a shiny finish, use a jewelry polishing cloth to remove fingerprints or unwanted tarnish that may occur.

  • For pieces with a brushed finish/no patina, use a fine steel wool to maintain the luster without ruining the matte look. Don’t use a polishing cloth for brushed finishes.

  • For pieces with a microcrystalline wax protective coating intended to slow down the natural darkening process, avoid use of a polishing cloth until tarnish is visible.

Always avoid wearing your jewelry to sleep, in water, while playing sports, etc.

What is the micro-crystalline wax finishing option?

Most alloys take on a natural patina over time. This is desirable for some wearers, while others prefer the original, bright finish.

When recommended for a design, a fine coating of micro-crystalline wax can be added to a piece (free of charge) to help delay the natural tarnish process. This is especially helpful if you live in a humid climate.

Use of a polishing cloth or other cleaners is not recommended for pieces treated with the wax, as this will rub the wax off prematurely.

Eventually, the wax may wear off through normal wear and handling. If tarnish does become visible, it is then advisable to use a cleaning method appropriate for the piece if you wish to restore the original color.

Do you offer repairs?

The Solid State stands by the craftsmanship and quality of each piece. If the piece is damaged due to normal wear, please contact to discuss options or make arrangements for repair.

The Solid State is not responsible for work done to a piece by another jeweler or other person attempting to make a repair or modification.
